Mechanics: Solving suvat equations

Under constant acceleration if v = 0 ms–1, s = 13 m and u = –3 ms–1 then
t = s to 3 dps or s

tickcross

Worked Solution:

We need a suvat equation with v, s, u as well as t; i.e. an equation with a missing.
So the equation to use is:
s =
u + v
---
2
t
Rearranging to find t
t =
2 s
---
u + v
Substituting the values given for the variables we have t = –8.667 s to 3 dps.
